A Heartfelt Thanksgiving Message!
Not a day goes by that I don’t feel gratitude, but this Thanksgiving, I am reminded with intention to pause, reflect, and truly give thanks for all that God and the universe have given me this year.
I am deeply thankful for the lives of my Grandmother and Godmother, who transitioned this year. Although they are no longer here, they will never be forgotten. I hold close the memory of my Grandmother’s endless prayers and my Godmother’s incredible sense of humor. Yes, they are gone, and my life will never be the same, but I am blessed with the gift of good memories to carry me forward.
I am thankful for every door that’s opened—and for those that didn’t. For every smile shared on the bustling streets of New York. For the bus driver who stops when they see me hustling to catch the bus. For neighbors who look out for my packages when I’m not home. For strangers who lend a hand when they see me struggling.
I’m thankful for the kind words of a homeless man who always greets me with, “Hello Beautiful, have a blessed day”—words that never fail to brighten mine. For my companion who listens tirelessly to my ideas and complaints. For the company I work for, which provides my income and allows me to pursue the things I love.
I am thankful for the men and women who protect our communities, for the beauty of nature, and for the view from my 7th-floor apartment. Watching the leaves transform from vibrant green to golden copper reminds me of life’s cycles and God’s ever-present artistry.
Life may look different for me now, but I am thankful for this new chapter and the opportunities before me to grow, learn, and connect with both new and old friends from various cultures and communities.
These small acts of thankfulness and moments of reflection can often get lost in the hustle and bustle. This Thanksgiving, I hope you, too, find a moment to pause and give thanks for all the blessings in your life, big and small.
