The Power of Gratitude: A Life-Changing Habit
Two years ago, I began to practice gratitude as a daily routine. Looking back, I realize that the decision to focus on gratitude was a coping mechanism. Acknowledging what was working and giving myself grace every morning helped me manage the sudden loss of a dear childhood friend. Little did I know that I was developing a life-changing habit. The exercise of daily gratitude gradually instilled a sense of purpose in my life. It gave me comfort, hope, and a sense of well-being even on stormy days.
Every morning, before I start my day, I reach for my journal or phone and jot down everything I feel grateful for. It's a simple act of kindness towards myself. Some days, it's the sound of children playing in a distant park that ignites my soul. The sound of their laughter and excitement is enough to make me feel alive - And for that I am grateful!
No matter how dark the night or gray the clouds, there is always something to be grateful for.
