Happy New Year!
Cheers!
There are a lot of myths about New Year’s Eve… From resolutions to setting goals, this time of year people make vows and promises they can’t keep. It’s just human nature; don’t be too hard on yourself. There are a lot of suggestions out there about how to maintain your New Year’s resolutions. But how effective are they? Does the advice ever really work? The goal should be to plan what is realistic and manageable. Another idea is to partner with someone that will hold you accountable.
Last year a neighbor and I bumped into each other on New Year’s Day. We decided to set a goal for the year, the goal was to send a gratitude text daily. I honestly didn’t think we would both be able to maintain our intent. But fortunate for me, I had a great gratitude partner. On the days that I may have been a little busier than normal, her text would prompt me to reply. We ended the year with a fabulous brunch and a live video of us sharing 18 things we were grateful for.
The exercise of expressing gratitude daily is one of the best things you can do to improve your day. Even if it’s one thing!
At the end of the day whether it’s the end of the year or a beginning of a new week, know that you can always choose to hit reset and start again.
Happy New Year!
