Harlem High Steppin’

Harlem High Steppin’

“A Cealle Creative moment at Harlem Fashion Week - Mother Daughter Empowerment Brunch”

Every now and again, I remind myself of the importance of saying yes—especially in moments when my first instinct might be to say no. That simple word, yes, has a way of opening doors to new experiences, new opportunities, and new communities. Last Saturday, saying yes led Cealle Creative into a beautiful space filled with fashion, sisterhood, and inspiration at Harlem Fashion Week’s Mother-Daughter Brunch.

A Room Full of Reflection

The room was alive with the glow of women—mothers, daughters, sisters, friends—radiating in every shade of walnut, pecan, cinnamon, toffee, and vanilla. It was a gathering where I could look around and see reflections of myself, my mother, my aunt, my cousin, and my sister. The collective beauty and energy was undeniable.

Cealle Creative’s Moment

I had the joy of introducing Cealle Creative to this new audience, and the response was heartwarming. Our “High Steppin’” scarf was the hit of the day—and why should I have been surprised? It was the style I decided to wear, and as the image spoke to the room, I realized once again the power of storytelling through design.

Familiar Faces & Full-Circle Moments

The event also brought unexpected connections, including the pleasure of reconnecting with Constance White, former Editor-in-Chief of Essence. Today, she continues her powerful work at FIT in social justice, and seeing her in this setting was a full-circle moment—reminding me of the many threads tying fashion, culture, and advocacy together.

Speaking from the Heart

The highest moment of the brunch for me was standing before the room and speaking about my business. Though time ran out far quicker than I expected, those few minutes of sharing my journey and vision to a room of unapologetic confidence left me uplifted and inspired. Sometimes, even a brief exchange can leave an imprint that lasts long after the day has ended.

Closing Thoughts…

I walked away grateful—for the chance to say yes, to introduce Cealle Creative to a new circle, and to witness firsthand the joy that fashion, storytelling, and community can bring. Harlem Fashion Week’s Mother-Daughter Brunch was more than an event; it was a reminder that when we open ourselves to possibility, the return is always greater than expected.

With Love
